The Joy of a 600+hp Daily Driver: A Supercharged 2015 Ford Mustang GT

But for some enthusiasts, the factory performance is just the starting point. For Daniel Lewis, the owner of this 2015 Ford Mustang GT, the goal was clear: build a fun, quick, and reliable weekend car that didn’t sacrifice drivability.

Supercharged Coyote Power

The centerpiece of this Mustang’s transformation is undoubtedly the ProCharger P1SC1 HO kit. Bolting on a supercharger to the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 turns an already potent powerplant into a monster. With 8 PSI of boost, this Mustang now lays down an impressive 606 rear-wheel horsepower and 498 lb-ft of torque. The power is not just about straight-line speed; it’s about delivering that extra bit of enjoyment every time Daniel lays into throttle.

Daniel didn’t hesitate when asked about his favorite modification. “Supercharger, obviously,” he says, communicating the joy that comes with transforming a car into something truly special.

Dialing in the Handling

But boosting the engine’s output is only part of the story. To handle the newfound power, a Spec Stage 3 clutch was installed, ensuring the car can transfer all that power to the pavement reliably. “Getting the suspension dialed in was probably the most challenging part,” the owner admits.

Daniel says, “When I bought the car, it initially had a different set of lowering springs that were too stiff and did not allow the car to hook up. It would also get violent wheel hop upon aggressive launches. There was also too much negative camber in the front and rear which caused the tires to wear unevenly. That made the tire contact patch smaller than it should be as well, which also led to traction issues.”

“I finally was able to dial in the camber with a few new suspension parts, and also installed the Acceletac springs. Now it hooks upon hard launches, the new Nitto tires wear evenly, and it rides much better as well," he said. The result is a Mustang that feels planted and responsive, whether carving through the corners or cruising down the highway.

NT555 G2 + NT555 RII Combo

With great power comes the need for great traction, and that’s where excellent tires shine. This Mustang rolls on a staggered setup of 305/45/17 Nitto NT555 RII D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radials in the rear and 275/40/18 Nitto NT555 G2 ultra high performance summer tires up front, mounted on VMS V Star wheels. The NT555 RII drag radials are specifically designed for high-horsepower applications, providing the grip needed to put down 600+ horsepower without turning into a smoke show every time you launch.

“I’ve had Nitto tires on other performance vehicles, and they’ve always performed well,” Daniel says. “The 555 G2s up front give me the confidence I need in the corners, while the 555 RIIs in the back hook up incredibly well, especially compared to the tires I was running before.”

The combination of these tires means that this Mustang not only accelerates hard but also handles predictably, making it a blast to drive on everything from the street to the track. The owner hasn’t had a chance to hit the track with the new setup yet, but with this setup, it’s only a matter of time before he’s posting impressive times.

A Weekend Warrior with Style

While performance was the primary focus, the Mustang hasn’t been neglected in the aesthetics department. The car features subtle but effective visual upgrades, including VLAND 2018+ taillights and bits of carbon fiber that add just enough flair without going over the top. The Corsa cat-back exhaust and H-pipe give the Mustang an aggressive sound that matches its newfound power, ensuring that it turns plenty of heads.

Looking Forward

This Mustang may look like a complete package, but that doesn’t mean the owner is done tweaking it. With plans to upgrade the fuel system and switch to E85, more boost is definitely in this car’s future. The goal? Even more power, of course. But for now, the Mustang is a perfect example of a modern muscle car that balances performance, drivability, and fun in a way that few others can.
