The Greatest Sights From the 2018 Detroit Auto Show
The auto industry gathers under the spotlights in Detroit Cobo Center for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) every January, and this year’s show was worth the 45-minute search for parking. Whether you’re trying to keep up with the Joneses or are just looking for fresh eye candy, you clicked on the right link to see a sneak peek of what the future holds. Without a doubt, the star of this year’s show was the 50th Anniversary Ford Mustang BULLITT, but several other new releases were dispersed across the showroom floor, including a handful of futuristic concept cars, such as the Toyota Concept-I, complete with artificial intelligence.
The bulk of the show encompassed new SUVs, crossovers, pickups and sedans that will be available for purchase this year, but for this gallery, we compiled a collection of the most anticipated models and unique displays. Honorable mentions include the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk, which looks stately in its velvety metallic red paint. The 2018 Lexus LC 500 inspired by Marvel Studios’ Black Panther drew in a crowd, and the 2017 Indy 500-winning car made an honorary appearance. An insane Sierra All Mountain pickup on snow tracks was parked near an isle in the GMC realm, and the Subaru that Mark Higgins raced (and crashed) on a bobsled course was mounted vertically against a wall inside of a slab of pseudo-bobsled trail. Best of all, the aforementioned splendor can be admired in the gallery above.
