The Devil's in the Details: Pagani Huayra
Most enthusiasts have heard of the Pagani Huayra, released into the U.S. market in 2014, even if they’re unsure of how to pronounce it (“why-ra”, in case you were wondering). Though with just 19 Huayras currently in the country, far fewer have even seen or heard one up close. While other supercars out there claim to be the fastest or the best car to drive to the track, this one stands apart by setting its focus on design.
Every last detail on this car helps to prove the point that the Huayra is a bespoke piece of art that you can drive. Whether it’s the dozen-plus different carbon fibers used to form the body, the seven-piece luggage set facilitating road trip use or the metal work – from name badges to wheels – all shaved from solid pieces of aluminum… each new detail you find on a Huayra reminds you that it’s not your average supercar.
It hardly needs to be said that it's powered by a V12 AMG engine, tops out at 224mph or that its horsepower/weight ratio is higher than the Bugatti Veyron. Its carbon fiber frame is so good that a single inner body was used for all 19 crashes required for U.S. safety certifications. All of these impressive figures fade away when you're standing in front of, or even better, sitting inside of one.
