SEMA Show 2017 Sneak Preview: ScienceOfSpeed Acura NSX

Sneak previews the week of the aftermarket's biggest gathering can (and will) no doubt be found with ease on social media. You will inevitably see this in your feeds today and in event coverage in the days following. But the wraps are quickly coming off on this. Acura wants it to be known that it has something very special waiting for you at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in what we are now preparing our minds, souls, feet and livers for at this very moment: the 2017 SEMA Show.

Built in collaboration with the master mechanics at ScienceOfSpeed, the "Dream Project" NSX is a big one. It checks off all the boxes on things we like to see from a SEMA build: upgrades to power, a tuned suspension and smooth body enhancements that remind us why SoS is so damn good at what they do.

In the engine bay, custom downpipes and a stainless exhaust system give the NSX a more aggressive sound, and a liquid injected intercooler help give the twin-turbo system the ability to pump out 610 hp and 507 lb-ft of torque, a considerable boost over stock figures.

A custom suspension allows for a subtle drop, but SoS also uses automatic iLIFT sensors to help lift the front axle approximately two inches should the car be too low in challenging circumstances. The stock wheels have been replaced with a set of forged 20x9"/21x12" ADVAN GT wheels, a striking contrast to the gold flake finished Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.

But it's the aero that's going to have you and your friends talking all week. Designed by SoS, the GT3-inspired kit is aggressive, crafted with carbon fiber and has a rear wing and diffuser combo that works with most of the original Honda design to help improve downforce. As a nod to its older brother, the ScienceOfSpeed Acura NSX sports a black roof and blends into a Nouvelle Blue Pearl hue as it works further down the body. Inside, the black and blue carries throughout with custom skinned Recaro Pole Position seats, door panels and dashboard. To top everything off, a multi-function guageART OLED display unit provides a state-of-the-art look at vehicle data.
