Not Your Average Audi: Newing's Audi A7 Sportback
Tokyo Auto Salon is known for introducing the world to some of the wildest and most over-the-top builds from across Japan. In fact, here’s our Top 11 from this year to make it easy! That being said, not every build needs to break the internet or stir up controversy to be worthy of admiration and a couple extra minutes of drooling at the host's booth.
At first glance, this Audi A7 Sportback Quattro looks to be another AirREX-equipped Euro, but it's the details that really lift this car out of the usual bags-and-wheels monotony.
To state the obvious, this car is wide. The entire bodywork, from front bumper to rear—including the diffuser—is a collaboration between Alpil and Liberty Walk.
The result is a full body kit that not only flows with the factory bodylines, but accents and massages out the A7’s width to fit the 21"x11" Alpil MS-1 forged wheels wrapped in Nitto INVO tires.
The custom paint fades down the columns from a deep, nearly-black cherry across the roof to a rich candy red with flake throughout. The pure saturation of the pigments pulls the passerby’s eye, even from the neighboring widebody Audi R8.
Newing’s fully custom interior stands in stark contrast to the rich exterior tones. The incredibly crisp white Nappa leather and carpet in a matching red tone tie the interior and exterior into a cohesive package.
The door cards and center console are finished in a red-reflecting carbon fiber, injecting a sporty feel into the otherwise luxurious cabin.
So, what happens when German engineering meets the Japanese aftermarket? It appears to be magic in the form of this one-of-a-kind A7 Sportback.
