Back to the Future Day

The future is here! October 21, 2015 marks the day Marty McFly traveled to the future in Back to the Future II, and that day has finally come! A moment 30 years in the making, fans old and new have been preparing for this occasion, and it's amazing how the entire Back to the Future trilogy, a science fiction movie based around time travel, proves to be so timeless. Check out some of the BTTF-themed events that happened this month:

Twin Pines / Lone Pines Mall

The Puente Hills Mall is my stomping grounds during my high school days. I’d never be caught dead shopping here today, but I’m still proud to call it my mall. Thirty years ago, the parking lot here served as a space for Marty and Doc Brown to see some serious doo-doo after a time-traveling DeLorean was debuted for the first time. Over the past month, the Puente Hills Mall has been transformed back to the Twin Pines Mall, and the fans have been stopping by day and night for special events hosted by WereGoingBack.com or to grab a quick selfie with Doc Brown’s truck or the original DeLorean on display inside the mall. Pepsi Perfect

"Hey, hey, hey, wait a minute, guys, hey, hey, hey guys! All I want is a Pepsi." I don't drink a lot of soda, but I would make an exception if I got my hands on a bottle of Pepsi Perfect. Pepsi made one of the movie’s future predictions come try by making 6,500 Pepsi Perfect bottles available for purchase on their website. The 16.9 oz. bottle and collectable packaging sold for $20.15 per set. The Future is now, and it’s sold out. (It actually sold out before it was supposed to go on sale; go figure. - JW) Update: Pepsi announced via Twitter that they will take more orders for the limited edition Pepsi Perfect bottles on 11/3!

Toyota Mirai Time Machine

Last night, we saw the future unveiled, literally, with the launch of the Toyota Mirai in West Hollywood, and the exclusive few who were able to purchase the car first were given the keys to their brand new Mirai at a special Back to the Future-themed party. Also on-hand was the debut of MV Designz's phase one of their custom Mirai Time Machine, which you can see in its finished state at the upcoming SEMA Show next month. Reimagined 2016 Toyota Tacoma

Don’t call it a throwback. Toyota re-created Marty McFly’s dream truck using the all-new 2016 Toyota Tacoma and put it on display in a giant toy box for fans to see at Hollywood and Highland. In addition to checking out that 4x4, fans were welcomed to the TCL Chinese Theater for a marathon screening of the Back to the Future trilogy!
