5 Easy Upgrades For The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is arguably the best Jeep Wrangler ever produced. It has a 470 horsepower V8, full-float Dana 44 rear axle, and 35-inch-tall tires direct from the factory. However, like nearly all vehicles, with a few minor tweaks, you can elevate the performance of the vehicle greatly. In this article, we’ll dive into five simple modifications that will allow you to easily take the 2024 Wrangler to the next level.

Unlocking 2WD

All Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 models come with the MP3022 transfer case. While in other Wranglers you have the option of shifting the transfer case to 2WD, in the 392, you are locked out of this setting. To access the two-wheel drive feature, you simply need to pair the Jeep with a Tazer JL Mini from ZAutomotive. The reason you want to do this is because it will save the clutch pack in your transfer case (a known failure point and wear item). You can learn more about this upgrade by watching our video tutorial on it HERE.

Bumper Mod

With the Wrangler 392 coming from the factory with the steel bumper group, you can easily convert it to a stubby series bumper by removing the bumper end caps. The advantage of doing this is you shave weight (around 17 pounds) and increase the Jeep’s approach angle. This is a massive benefit for going off-road and is a free way to give your Jeep a more aggressive appearance.

Get Grapplers

While we applaud Jeep for equipping the Wrangler 392 with 35-inch-tall tires direct from the factory, they lack a bit in the performance and appearance department. For this reason, we highly recommend going with a tire that’s more true-to-size and aggressive if you truly intend on taking the Jeep off-road. We’re big fans of the Nitto Trail Grappler (shown here) as it’s an extremely well-mannered mud-terrain radial. It rolls smooth and quiet on the highway and works extremely well in rocky and muddy terrain. Coupled with the fact that Nitto is known for its tough sidewalls, we say this upgrade is well worth the spend.

Exhaust Rotation

Ground clearance is paramount off-road. While the Wrangler 392 does come with a 2-inch suspension lift direct from the factory, the stock exhaust tips hang down a good bit. By rotating them upwards, you can easily gain a few inches of ground clearance, which will also help with your departure angle off-road. Thanks to alignment tabs on the tips, you can easily rotate them back once you’ve wrapped up your trail excursion.

Caster Fix

Aside from not offering 37’s standard on the Wrangler 392, one thing we still can’t believe Jeep has not addressed is the stock lower control arms. Thanks to the taller coil springs, the 392 has around 4 degrees of positive castor from the factory. Ideally, you want around 6 degrees of positive caster. The reason being is that it will make the steering feel lighter, which is important with the heavy V8 resting over the front axle. A set of aftermarket lower control arms can easily allow you to dial in the caster and get your Jeep driving even better than stock.
