300,000 Mile Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4

2000-chevy-silverado-1500-4x4-silver-300k-rough-country-suspension When it comes to buying, selling, and collecting cars, mileage is always a significant contributor to the vehicle’s value. Typically, high mileage isn’t a deal breaker on a 4x4 project as we often remove and replace many of the common wear items anyhow. Traditionally, when we say high-mileage, we are referring to anything north of 180,000 miles. But, we see that figure moving north on many modern automobiles. Take for example this 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 you see here. From the outside, it looks like a well-kept used truck. Aside from a small lift and lightbar, there isn’t a significant amount of modifications. What makes this particular Bowtie unique is the fact that is has 300,000 miles on the odometer. Even more surprising is that it has achieved these miles with the original powertrain. 2000-chevy-silverado-1500-4x4-silver-53L-V-8 Under the hood, the engine bay was equally as clean as the rest of the truck.  According to the original owner, the truck was serviced at all GM suggested intervals. The 5.3L push-rod V-8 engine was also treated to Mobil 1 synthetic fluid at every oil change since the truck was new. 2000-chevy-silverado-1500-4x4-interior The cloth interior was another area that surprised us. With so many miles, we expected to see the driver seat completely worn and at least a few stains or tears. That simply wasn’t the case here. 2000-chevy-silverado-1500-4x4-interior-dash-300000-miles The future of the truck is now in the hands of the original owner’s son. Hitting the 300,000-mile marker was the cue to pass the truck on and of course, go purchase a brand new Chevy 1500 in hopes of pulling out the same type of longevity. This truck has definitely got us reevaluating what high-mileage for these modern machines.
